Live Iloilo: Jaro Small Market

When looking for a house, one of the first considerations is its accessibility of the real property in vital establishments and installations.  Markets, hospitals, schools, police stations, churches, pharmacies etc. So if you’re looking for a house in Jaro, Iloilo City, the nearest market is Jaro Small Market. Located along Simon Ledesma street, this public market is a spin off of their “big bro” counterpart the Jaro Big market.

The street infront of Jaro Small Market named Simon Ledesma Street is a one way, 2 lane major road, connecting Leganes to Jaro plaza. The Peripheral stalls (the stores along the street) sell mainly rice, household supplies, coconuts (buko) and fruits. There are also the usual WET MARKET that sells fresh fish, chicken, pork and veggies at the heart of Jaro Small Market. Below are some of the peripheral stalls and their faithful owners you can see when you visit us.

Me inside our stall “tienda TIELDA”, behind me some of the toys we sell

I myself am a daughter of a happy stall owner Tita Gimarangan. Our store TIENDA TIELDA has been started by my grandparents in Jaro Small Market since 1984. My grandparents started selling rice and premium grade rice. When my mom and I arrive here in Iloilo 1994, mom added LOW PRICED  brooms, household supplies, school supplies, toys and accessories to our store. And we sold toys, accessories, school supplies and house supplies like hotcake! Because we were the only stall to sell those products in Jaro Small Market before.

Soon other stall owners in Democracia and Jaro Small Market started coping my mom’s fast selling products.  Like what they say, “Imitation is the best form of flattery”. At least we know that our store and my mom is still the first to introduce selling AFFORDABLE toys, accessories, school supplies and household supplies at Jaro Small Market
